What is the Generation Euro Students’ Awards?
The “Generation €uro” competition puts you in charge of European monetary policy. Decide on the key interest rate to ensure price stability and persuade your peers!
The "Generation €uro" competition is open to secondary school students aged 16 to 19 interested in economics.
The competition is played in teams of three to five students supervised by a "coach" teacher. Any team can participate in English or French.
The timeline for the 2025-2026 ECB’s competition is as follows

Once registered, the teams can take part in the first stage, an online quiz of 30 questions that will be available until 4 December 2025 on the competition’s website.
The top‑scoring teams from this stage will qualify for the second stage, during which they will have until 4 February 2026 to submit a written monetary‑policy decision. The students assume the role of a member of the ECB Governing Council who must persuade their colleagues of the best monetary‑policy choice.
The five best teams after this second stage will advance to the final in March 2026 (exact date to be confirmed), where they will have to convince the BCL jury—acting as members of the Governing Council—of the relevance of their monetary‑policy decision.
